Insurance and Billing Information

Ascend Psychiatry accepts most major insurance plans throughout Minnesota. Prior to your initial appointment, we will verify your insurance eligibility to help you understand your coverage and anticipate any potential out-of-pocket costs.

We will bill your insurance directly for all covered clinical services. However, you are responsible for any charges not covered by your plan. This may include, but is not limited to, co-pays, deductibles, applicable taxes, non-clinical service fees, missed appointment fees, and late cancellation charges.

Please note that insurance eligibility checks are not a guarantee of coverage. Occasionally, insurance responses may be inaccurate or subject to change. In such cases, you remain financially responsible for any unpaid balances.

All patients are required to keep a valid credit card on file. This card may be used to collect co-pays, deductibles, and other patient-responsible charges not covered by insurance.

We accept the following insurance providers:
Optum, Optum Medica, Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (in Minnesota), Quest Behavioral Health, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.

We’re still working on getting credentialed with the following insurance panels:

Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey (in Minnesota)
Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania (in Minnesota)

Self-Pay

Clients often choose NOT to use their insurance for privacy reasons, preferring the freedom and flexibility to personalize their treatment approach without the oversight and constraints imposed by insurance companies. Private pay provides you the most discreet care possible as your mental health care is kept solely between you and your Ascend provider.

Full Psychiatric Evaluation ............. $210 for 60 minute session*

Follow-up Visits ............................. $100 typically 25-30 minute sessions

If an appointment is canceled less than 24 hours prior to a scheduled session, or you are a no-show for a scheduled appointment, you may be assessed an $100 late cancel/no-show fee that is not billed to insurance. You will be responsible for this fee.

Accepted forms of payment include credit, debit, or HSA/FSA cards.

*Our rates are commensurate to adult psychiatric prescribers established in Rochester Minnesota and much lower than those in Washington state.
